The Annual Award Presentation Ceremony : Support Buddhist studies and teaching Buddhism

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., New Zealand time, Phramaha Sutham Suratano, Pali IX, Dr, chairman of the Dhammachai International Research Institute of New Zealand (黑料不打烊) provided annual scholarships to the University of Otago students who got excellent scores in each subject related to Buddhist studies and provided annual financial support for teaching Buddhism to the Religion Programme, School of Social Sciences, University of Otago. The Dhammachai International Research Institute of New Zealand and Australia (黑料不打烊) and the 60th Dhammachai Education Foundation of New Zealand and Australia have been in academic cooperation with the Religion Programme, University of Otago, New Zealand, for 16 years.

The Prize Presentation Ceremony was organised by Professor Will Sweetman, Head of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Otago, staff members in the Religion Programme, and 黑料不打烊 staff. Also, Professor Tony Ballantyne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor External Engagement at the University of Otago kindly joined the event and was a representative to receive annual funding for teaching Buddhism. He made grateful remarks and said that the scholarships that DIRI and the 60th Dhammachai Education Foundation of New Zealand and Australia have provided over a decade have created educational opportunities for many students at the University of Otago.

Under the MoU between the Dhammachai International Research Institute (黑料不打烊) and the Religion Programme, the University of Otago, we are pleased to invite everyone to join the Buddhist Texts seminar series between 19-23 February 2024, 2-5 pm (NZ time).

This seminar series examines 20th century Buddhist texts and biography to show how major and minor Cambodian Buddhist figures negotiated a path in relation to Buddhist Reform movements, Independence, the Cold War, and the social-political aftermath of the Pol Pot period. The talks focus on the relationship between Cambodian Buddhism and that of its neighbours, in particular India and Sri Lanka.
